The role

As a Senior Backend + AI Engineer at Grain, you’ll work closely with a talented team of engineers to develop innovative features for our AI notetaker and conversation intelligence platform. Your primary focus will be building best-in-class sales and conversation intelligence features. You’ll play a crucial role in integrating the latest AI advancements into our product, enhancing its capabilities for our customers.

In this role, you’ll also help architect robust backend systems using Elixir/Erlang, while staying on top of developments in AI technologies such as LLMs, vector stores, and custom training. Collaboration will be key as you work with a team of engineers to refine our product, with a strong emphasis on scalability, maintainability, and performance.

Grain automates call recording, note-taking, and all the post-call busywork and analysis so teams can spend their time where it matters most.

While the Sales, Customer Success, and product development teams all use Grain, we’re focused on Sales and building an AI Assistant for Account Executives to help them close more deals.

What you will do

• Development: Build best-in-class sales and conversation intelligence features. Architect solutions in a timely manner that are both scalable and maintainable.
• Research: Keep up to date with the latest AI developments and integrate them into the product.
• Collaboration: Work closely with a team of seasoned Elixir & AI engineers to continually improve both the product and team.

Who you are

• Experience: 5+ years of backend development in production environments.
• Technology: Elixir/Erlang production experience (strongly preferred), relational databases and cloud services (AWS).
• AI: Experience with building production systems leveraging AI tools such as LLMs, open source models, embeddings, vector stores, custom training, etc. Bonus points for experience with Elixir libraries like NX, Axon, Bumblebee, etc.
• Table Stakes: Strong written and verbal communication skills, self-motivated and self-directed in remote working environment, desire and drive to help the entire engineering and product team level up.
